CORPORATE AND GROUP PROGRAMS
OPTION A: Wheel Throwing
Wheel Throwing 2 hours: $35.00 per person* We go through a step by step demonstration of how to throw on the potter’s wheel. After each step is demoed, the participants get a chance to try it out on their own wheel. The group works individually on a wheel, but they are all going through the same step by step process involved in order to make a pot. Throwing on the wheel is challenging and can get a little messy, but it’s also a very fun and relaxed way to work with clay. Again, two hours goes by quick, but with the assistance of our staff everyone makes one to three pots.
Wheel Throwing 4 hours: $45.00 per person* We go throw the same step by step process as the 2 hour program, but we get a little more in depth with before and ending techniques. The participants are able to get a better feeling and understanding of how to work with clay on the wheel. After everyone has made their first pot, we break for lunch, and come back to learn about shaping and manipulating the clay more on the wheel.
*Price includes Glaze choice and firing.
OPTION B: Hand Building
Hand building 2 hours: $35.00 per person* In hand building you work directly with the clay using different techniques like pinch pots, slab construction or coil building with the help of several tools including a slab roller, molds, and of course your hands! Participants are given a short introduction in how to work with clay with a quick warm up project. Either participants can work individually on a more developed project using a technique mentioned above, or groups can be formed to design and build a structure together. Two hours goes by quickly, so you’ll get thrown into a fun atmosphere working with the clay and plenty of staff will be there to assist.
Hand building 4 hours: $45.00 per person* Participants are given a demonstration and warm up project to introduce him or her to how clay works. The group will then individually work on a small project to further his or her understanding of how to really manipulate the clay. We break for lunch. For the remainder of the time, either individuals can continue to work on the same project or they can try out a different technique. Small groups can also be broken into during the afternoon to work together on designing and building a structure which is typically a dwelling space. The four hour program goes more into depth about how to work with clay using a variety of techniques giving individuals more time to get creative with the clay.
