Welcome Teachers!

We know that running a clay program is extremely difficult. Class time is short, kilns are stressful, and there are so many things a teacher has to know in order to have clay as a large part of their curriculum.

Funke Fired Arts is here to help!

We carry a wide range of clay, glazes, tools, and kiln accessories. Becky Geiger, our kiln and wheel repair specialist, is one of the best in the business. Our Staff will talk you through ANY questions you have about clay construction, glaze and firing problems, or ideas for the classroom. We want you to enjoy teaching clay. In order to improve your relationship with clay, our studio has a few programs you should know about.

Our education department has put a grouping of free video tutorials on the website. These clips take you step by step through the wheel throwing process, surface decoration, and handbuilding skills. This is a perfect class companion when you don’t have time to sit with the wheel throwing students for the entire class. We will continue to add videos and would appreciate your input.

We offer free teacher workshops that cover everything you might deal with in the classroom. These workshops help teachers become more familiar with their kilns and how to fire and maintain them. Each teacher will also receive a large information packet with project ideas, troubleshooting manuals, glaze information from our favorite companies, and quick tips when teaching wheel throwing and glazing to your students.

Funke Fired Arts offers CEU’s to teachers who attend programs here. Take a few classes with us over the summer and really make a dent in your continuing education requirements.

We want to be the best teacher resource in the tri-state area when it comes to all things clay. Please let us know what else we can do to make your job a little less stressful. We are here to help and want you to be a major part of our clay community.
